SEOUL -- Canadian singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes spoke about joint work with South Korea's K-pop boy band BTS during a radio show in Toronto. "It will happen," he said without giving a clear timetable.

At The Roz & Mocha Show on Tuesday, Mendes, 19, described BTS as "a hard group to get with." "They are busy people. I have no lyrics on their collaboration yet. It will happen. Promise," he said.

Due to a busy schedule, however, Mendes was not sure when he would work with BTS. "I can't give you a date because we haven't hung out and wrote a song yet."

Since Mendes and BTS met at last year's American Music Awards, they have expressed their desire through social media and interviews to work together. Mendes debuted in 2013 and his song "Stitches", released in 2014, reached the top 10 in American and Canadian music charts. He had reached the top spot on the Billboard 200 with his album "Shawn Mendes" this year.
