SHANGHAI -- A Chinese frozen food manufacturer has unveiled an ice cream that resembles North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, industry sources said.
The "Jin San Pang," developed and launched by the Shanghai-based company Iceason, is being sold for 30 yuan (around $4.40) each in the company's 150 outlets across China. The product, depicting a bust of the North Korean leader, is named Jin San Pang, which is a nickname that mocks Kim for being overweight.
The ice cream, which also looks like South Korean rapper-singer Psy performing the horse-riding dance from his "Gangnam Style" hit song, is strawberry-flavored and comes with a pair of chocolate sunglasses laid over the figure's face.
The North's leader has been called 'Kim Fatty III' among Chinese web users, as he is the third generation of North Korea's leadership dynasty. But the search term is blocked on Chinese major social media, including Baidu.
The appearance of an ice cream that depicts Kim could be an indication that Chinese people are shifting their view of the leader to a positive one amid improved Beijing-Pyongyang relations, which have come alongside the North's movement toward denuclearization.
