S. Korean game publisher acquires creator of world-popular online game

SEOUL -- Pearl Abyss, a South Korean game publisher, has decided to acquire 100 percent of the shares of CCP Games, an Icelandic game maker who developed "Eve Online", a popular massive multi-player online role-playing game (MMORPG).

The South Korean online game company said in a statement released on Thursday that company will acquire CCP Games. The Icelandic game developer will be operated as an isolated studio team and will collaborate with Pearl Abyss.

Eve Online is a space-themed online game was launched in 2002. The game has about 40 million users worldwide.
