SEOUL -- Amid a global K-pop sensation led by BTS, NCT Dream was chosen by Billboard as one of this year's 21 most talented artists or groups under the age of 21. NCT Dream is a subgroup of NCT, an 18-member project group launched in 2016.
Billboard said the seven-member group took the No. 2 spot in the "21 Under 21 2018: Music's Next Generation" list, which is based on various standards including social media awareness and sales of albums and songs.
"Since forming in 2016, the seven-member boy band NCT Dream has made waves in the K-pop world with its retro hip-hop and funk-infused take on dance-pop," Billboard said. NCT Dream was the only K-pop act listed in the chart. Canada's singer-songwriter Shawn Mendes topped the list.
