SEOUL -- At CES 2019, a trade fair in Las Vegas in January, Samsung Electronics will demonstrate the new version of its premium lifestyle TVs, Frame and Serif, which go beyond the traditional concept of TVs.

Samsung said Wednesday that the new models would showcase their innovative design, performance, and how they seamlessly blend into daily life. The company plans to release them in April next year with bigger screens than previous models.

"The traditional TV was only focused on technical features, such as picture quality and performance, but now TVs are also a lifestyle platform that blends in consumers' daily life," Choo Jong-suk, a vice president of Samsung's visual display business, said in a statement.

The Frame, a QLED (Quantum Dot Light Emitting Diode) TV, can be hung virtually anywhere and blend into the surrounding space free of cables and wires. The Frame shows a series of landscape, drawings and other images, disguising itself as an art fixture when it's on display with other art pieces.

The Frame's art mode displays digital pieces of artwork with its luminance sensor adjusting colors on-screen to fit the ambient brightness of the room. Its art store provides access to over 1,000 pieces of art. The Frame also features Bixby, Samsung’s AI-powered voice control platform that allows users to access streaming platforms through voice commands.

The Serif TV was developed in collaboration with Paris-based design brothers Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec. Its ambient mode provides information, such as news headlines and weather updates. The Serif TV has been sold almost exclusively in furniture shops and department stores, but it will be available in retailers next year.
