SEOUL -- Kang Sung-hoon, a member of South Korea's first-generation K-pop band Sechskies, has unfollowed his agency boss and colleagues on Instagram, sparking speculation among fans that he would leave.

Kang has been dogged by a series of scam allegations and lawsuits from 2011.
Sechskies debuted as a six-member group in 1997 and led the Korean music scene with fast-paced dance songs. The group disbanded in 2000, but it came back as a five-member group and joined YG Entertainment in 2016.

The 38-year-old was found to have severed social media connections with three Sechskies members -- Eun Ji-won, Lee Jai-jin, and Kim Jae-duck -- and YG Entertainment head Yang Hyun-suk after fans turned their back on Kang, accusing him and fan club operators of embezzling a fund raised to roll out a taxi advertisement campaign in Seoul for a solo concert.

Fans suspect Kang has an improper relationship with the female head of his fan club. Criticism erupted after the singer canceled a fan meeting in Taipei in September this year. At that time, he insisted he was innocent, promising to make things right. However, fans have threatened to boycott the group unless Kang leaves.

This week, Jang Soo-won uploaded an Instagram post which showed the picture of four members without Kang and a message reading "2019 season's greetings." The post fueled speculation that Kang may have left.
