SEOUL -- Dexter Studios, a Seoul-based visual effects company, has forged a partnership with Digital Domain Space, a virtual reality (VR) theme park wing of U.S. digital production company Digital Domain, to distribute VR contents to China.

Dexter Studios, known for South Korean blockbuster film series "Along with the Gods", said in a statement Monday that it signed a distribution contract deal to provide VR contents. Dexter Studios plans to release the franchise-themed VR contents of "Along with the Gods" through Digital Domain Space's VR theme parks in China.

VR theme parks, also known as VR arcades, gained global attention about two years ago when technology companies such as Sony, Oculus and HTS released VR devices for computers and game consoles. Many found that VR theme parks were useful and more cost-effective as VR devices were expensive and needed a lot of space to enjoy.

Inside a VR theme park, visitors wear headsets and other gaming gears such as a rifle-shaped controller to play single-player games or engage in an online team battle. Normally visitors are allocated to small rooms, but big theme parks offer huge space to ensure freer movements.
