SEOUL -- "Saturday Night Live Korea" writer-turned-comedian Yoo Byung-jae has left YG Entertainment, four years after he joined South Korea's entertainment powerhouse.

"We thank fans who had been with YG and given great love to Yoo. We wish the best for Yoo's future," YG Entertainment said in a statement on Tuesday. The entertainment company said that the YG and the 31-year-old comedian had discussed renewing their contracts but failed to come to an agreement.

Yoo started his career as a writer of Saturday Night Live Korea, a South Korean franchise of popular American comedy show Saturday Night Live, in 2012 and gained popularity for his comedy gigs on the show. He later joined YG Entertainment in 2015. He has done two stand-up comedy specials on Netflix, the world's top OTT service.
