SEOUL -- K-pop boy band BTS and Big Hit Entertainment CEO Bang Si-hyuk were chosen among members of the Recording Academy, which presents Grammy Awards to recognize achievements in the music industry.

The Recording Academy is an American learned academy of musicians, producers, recording engineers, and other musical professionals. It has selected 1,340 members -- BTS as a voting member and Bang as a professional member who will vote for awards next year.

"The Recording Academy receives applications for membership registration from artists and music industry workers every year, but approval is very difficult. It seems to have reflected musical influence and contributions BTS and CEO Bang have made to the world," Big Hit said in a statement.

Bang has pulled BTS onto the global stage, working with BTS members in every song and encouraging them to fully express their emotions in writing lyrics that moved the hearts of millions of fans across the globe. He was chosen by Billboard as an international power player for the second time in two consecutive years.
