SEOUL -- K-pop boy band BTS was honored at Disney's radio music awards event for the band's global influence in pop-culture including music, dance and fashion.
Big Hit Entertainment, the seven-member band's agency, said in a statement that BTS has grabbed "Global Phenom Award" at "2019 ARDYs: A Radio Disney Music Celebration", an annual event formerly known as "Radio Disney Music Award". The music award honors the most popular artists and songs based on online popularity voting by young listeners.
Because of its world tour schedule, BTS was not able to attend the ceremony in Los Angeles on June 16. Instead, the group has presented a short video clip which showed band members expressing their gratitude toward fans.
"Global Phenom Award" picks globally influential figures who have positively affected various sectors of the world's pop-culture. BTS has collected awards at the Radio Disney awards event for two consecutive years.
