SEOUL -- LG Electronics has targeted the niche market of global users who favor multitasking simultaneously when using a non-foldable smartphone with its new 6.4-inch smartphone "V50S ThinQ" and its dual-screen accessory.

The South Korean electronics maker released V50, the predecessor of V50S, at home in February. A dual-screen adapter received a good response from consumers as the innovative gadget accessory allowed users to do multiple things at once utilizing an extra screen.

The first glimpse of V50S was shown at Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (IFA), an annual electronics fair in Berlin, along with the new version of its dual-screen accessory. LG did not disclose the price, but it will be cheaper than V50, which came with a price tag of 1,199,000 won ($1,001) without the dual-screen kit.

V50S will be released in two versions. The 5G model will bear the name of V50S while the 4G version was given the name of "G8X ThinQ". It has a 32-megapixel front-facing camera and a dual-lens rear camera and adjustments were made to the dual-screen accessory to allow users to set the angles of the two adjacent displays. LG said V50S will be released in South Korea next month and hit other foreign markets later this year.

Some consumers voiced worries, saying LG's new phone is actually a downgraded version of its predecessor. "V50 had a triple-lens rear camera with a telescopic lens and a dual-lens front-facing camera. However, V50S is missing all those," said "BlingBlingJonghyun", a user from major South Korean online IT community Clien.

Another user "Bisang" said: "LG says V50S is cheaper than V50 but thinking that it actually gave away the dual-screen to anyone, the new phone isn't that cheap."
