SEOUL -- Samsung Electronics has heralded new innovative devices to be unveiled at its annual "Unpacked Event" in San Francisco on February 11 through a mysterious teaser video, sparking rampant speculation in the technology world. Tens of thousands of tech-savvy consumers are now involved in a hectic online debate as new devices can be seen just in silhouette.

The teaser video that lasted for 15 seconds showed the logo of Galaxy, Samsung's smartphone brand, with the silhouette of two devices standing out in the white background, one square-shaped and the other diamond-shaped.

Samsung did not disclose any details, but online tech communities guess that the square shape is a new five-lens camera module to be installed into the new Galaxy series and the other is the shape of Samsung's next-generation clamshell-type foldable smartphone.

"Maybe its Samsung's budget foldable phone," said Lancelot, a user from South Korean online IT community Clien. Another user nicknamed "WindStar" speculated, "It could be a foldable tablet. I would really love it."

There has been speculation that Samsung may release a new foldable smartphone that folds like a clam in February before the release of its new flagship Galaxy S11. Samsung has declined to confirm news reports that the new phone would have a 6.7-inch display and becomes nearly square when folded. Competitors are set to release similar models.

Earlier this year, the world's largest smartphone maker released Galaxy Fold that users can fold like a book and houses a 4.6-inch exterior cover display and a 7.3-inch main display. Users can easily continue what they were doing by switching displays from the smaller one into the larger one.
