SEOUL -- SK C&C, the de facto holding company of South Korea's third-largest conglomerate SK Group, joined hands with Automation Anywhere, a U.S. robotic process automation software developer, to cooperate in digital transformation and create a business automation system.

The two companies plan to develop an optimal robotic process automation (RPA) application model for each core task, which automates repetitive tasks by analyzing business characteristics, SK C&C said Tuesday. Automation Anywhere, based in San Jose, California, combines traditional RPA with cognitive elements such as natural language processing and reading unstructured data.

"We will work closely together to create successful cases of business automation optimized for domestic companies," Automation Anywhere Korea head Lee Young-soo was quoted as saying.

Lee Sang-kuk, director of SK C&C's ICT consulting division, said that the two companies would share cases of work automation by SK Group units and implement a platform targeting domestic and global markets. SK C&C would develop an RPA system to establish a digital system in large plant and construction sectors and apply it to SK E&C's procurement work.
