SEOUL -- LG Electronics will showcase its flagship "Velvet" smartphone through an online event in the format of a fashion show to promote a social distancing campaign.
LG said in a statement on Friday that it will hold an online fashion show event to globally introduce Velvet in real time, utilizing a non-face-to-face marketing method. The "untact" event will be live-streamed through YouTube and Facebook at 10:00 a.m. (0100 GMT) on May 7.
A teaser video showing droplets falling on a runway was also released. LG explained the teaser is the visualization of the unique innovative design of Velvet.
Velvet, scheduled to be released in mid-May, is an ambitious brainchild of LG that strategically targets consumers who seek an affordable smartphone with good features. It has a triple-lens rear camera. LG has previously released a set of teaser images without disclosing details of the phone's specifications.
