SEOUL -- Spot, a quadruped robot developed by Boston Dynamics, an American engineering and robotics design company, will be used by GS Engineering & Construction based in Seoul to collect data at construction sites for the first time in South Korea.
Through cooperation with Cupix, a software provider, GS E&C has successfully demonstrated Spot at a construction site. Spot, which climbs stairs and traverses rough terrain with ease, has been used to document construction progress, monitor remote or hazardous environments, and provide situational awareness.
GS E&C said that Spot would be used to check the quality of defects for the construction of apartments and bridges after a verification process. Installed with various internet of things (IoT) sensors, Spot will expand the scope of use.
