SEOUL -- Migu, a culture and technology service arm of China Mobile, will release a 5G-based live K-pop service in China, Hong Kong and other countries under a contract with KT, a South Korean telecom company which has prepared original video content using virtual reality technology to attract early adopter consumers.

KT has provided live broadcasting and high-definition VOD services through its online video platform in South Korea and through Migu's platform in Hong Kong. KT worked with small and medium-sized music agencies and production companies to add augmented reality effects to live broadcasting and produced virtual reality videos of artists.

KT aims to expand its live broadcasting service to Asian countries. "In addition to K-pop content, we will be able to introduce various original content of Seezn to more global customers," said KT's new media business head Kim Hoon-bae.

In November 2019, KT launched a new mobile video content service called "Seezn," promising to provide high-quality content and high-definition images using 5G and artificial intelligence technologies. Seezn provides films in 4K UHD video format.
