SEOUL -- Google Cloud will be combined with Multiverse, an integrated digital platform developed by SK C&C, the information technology wing of South Korea's SK Group, to challenge the market for software as a service (SaaS).

Cloud computing is the on-demand availability of computer system resources and makes data centers available to many users over the internet. SaaS is a software delivery model in which a cloud-based software application is licensed to a user. SaaS providers deliver and maintain their applications over the internet. Multiple users can have access to the same software, and users do not have to worry about server maintenance.

Google Cloud Korea and SK C&C will work with domestic and foreign companies to commercialize SaaS with a model derived in the process of accelerating the digital innovation of domestic customers based on Multiverse. They would establish a common lab for digital flagship business and combine their digital platforms.

"I'm glad that SK C&C and its partners will use Google Cloud's pacesetting technology to make a model that can be used by industry and introduce it to the global market," said Google Cloud Korea head Choi Ki-young.

As priority areas, the two companies selected the analysis of customers in the distribution sectors, market sensing in the financial sector, new drug development platforms and medical AI, sales quality assurance to prevent incomplete sales in the financial sector, and insurance sector advisors. In the manufacturing sector, they would review smart factory element solutions that have been proven to reduce costs and improve productivity.
