Seoul to provide digital map of convenient facilities in riverside parks

SEOUL -- For the convenience of visitors to riverside parks along Seoul's iconic Han River, the capital city will release a smart digital map service that can locate public toilets, small stores and other facilities.

Seoul said that the smart digital map of 11 riverside parks will be released on November 1 through a smart map platform called "Smart Seoul Map." Visitors can access the map using PCs or smartphones and look for information about 218 facilities including boat wharves, public toilets, convenience stores, and watersport centers.

When a user clicks on each facility, the map will show real-time information about availability and the shortest route. The navigation service will be provided through digital map services provided by Kakao and Naver, the two top web service companies in South Korea.

"We will continue to upgrade the digital map so that visitors enjoy Han River's parks more conveniently," Seoul's Han River business operations bureau director Lee Sang-ee said, adding that it's hard for visitors to find information about and reach convenient facilities in riverside parks.
