South Korea and Paraguay will sign an agreement on aviation cooperation this year and hold talks on a double tax avoidance treaty early next year, the South Korean foreign ministry said.

The decision came in a meeting of the Joint Economic Committee in Seoul Nov. 27. This year marks the 50th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries. The committee was launched in 1998.

During the meeting, Jang Keun-ho, chief of the Latin American and Caribbean Bureau of South Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and his Paraguayan counterpart Julio Cesar Arriola agreed to strengthen economic cooperation between the two nations, the ministry said.

The Paraguayan official pledged to support the South Korean Forestry Administration’s participation in his country's afforestation projects, it said.
