Olympic star and a murder suspect Oscar Pistorius (26) was set free on bail this Friday.

Pistorius paid 1 million rand (appx. $112,000) for bail and went back to the comfort of freedom after surrendering his South African passports and firearms.

He will have to report back to the local authorities twice a week and alcohol drinking is prohibited.

Pistorius’ family and friends cheered for the bail decisions, but the victim Reeva Steenkamp’s loved ones were dumbfounded with the news.

This court ruling brought criticism that the decision shows the sad reality of miniscule consideration on women’s rights in South Africa.

Oscar Pistorius is a Paralympic champion and is a first amputee to participate in the Olympic. He shot his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp four times through a closed bathroom door and killed her in his home on Valentines Day. The prosecutors accused Pistorius for premeditating the murder. Pistorius still claims that it was an accident.
