CL, a member of the South Korean girl group 2NE1, was ranked second on TIME magazine's online voting for its list of the world's 100 most influential people of 2015.

Russian President Vladimir Putin took the top spot with an approval rating of 6.95 percent, closely trailed by CL, according to the results of an online vote conducted by the U.S. weekly news magazine.

It, however, did not mention how many votes singer CL won.

CL has been preparing to make a U.S. debut, Time said.

2NE1 was among 50 winners of the YouTube Music Awards 2015.

Lady Gaga placed third in the vote with an approval rating of 2.6 percent, followed by compatriot singers Rihanna (1.9 percent) and Taylor Swift (1.8 percent).

Pope Francis ranked 10th with 1.5 percent, while U.S. President Barack Obama and his wife, Michelle Obama, came in 11th and 12th with 1.4 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively.

Others on the list included Chinese President Xi Jinping (0.9 percent), U.S. presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton (0.8 percent), North Korean leader Kim Jong-un (0.8 percent) and Real Madrid's Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo (0.7 percent).
