The movie earned $1,048,332 in the North American box office as of Sunday, Oct. 4, the distributor, CJ Entertainment America, said.
Tickets for the film were sold out at CGV theaters in Los Angeles over the weekend, it said.
On its home turf, the film has attracted more than 13.34 million viewers since its release on Aug. 5, becoming the third most-viewed film in the history of South Korean cinema.
The figure compares with 17.61 million viewers for "Roaring Currents (2014)" about a 16th-century naval hero who defeated Japanese invaders in the late 16th century, and 14.26 million viewers for "Ode to My Father (2014)," a drama film that depicts modern Korean history from the 1950-53 Korean War to the present day through the life of an ordinary man.
Actor Hwang Jung-min plays a veteran detective who fights a sociopathic heir to a family-owned conglomerate in "Veteran," directed by Ryoo Seung-wan who is known for thrillers, including “The Berlin File (2012)." Actor Yoo Ah-in plays the young heir.
