On Mobile World Congress 2016’s press day, Sunday, Samsung released a pack of gadgets including the company’s flagship smartphones “Galaxy S7” and “Galaxy S7 Edge”. But what caught the eyes of experts at the scene was “Gear 360”, Samsung’s 360 degrees virtual reality (VR) camera.

VR is the hottest keyword in the IT industry this year. A lot of devices including Samsung Gear VR, Gear 360, Sony’s PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, and HTC’s Vive have been released or are to be released this year. Gear 360 fits right among the hottest items and feels very innovative.

The Gear 360, a size of a cue ball, is fitted with two 195 degrees wide fish-eye lenses which let the device see the world in 360 degrees. Gear 360 can film using both lenses simultaneously in Dual-mode (3840X1920) or use only one of its lenses in Single-mode, which films only 180 degrees in angle.

When connected wirelessly, the camera can be controlled remotely with the smartphone. Also, any clips taken by the Gear 360 can be easily edited and shared via social networks on the smartphone.

The camera comes with 1350mAh removable battery and has a micro SD slot which supports up to 128 gigabytes of external storage.
