A photograph taken on the top of 610 meter-high Lotte Tower uploaded by Vitaliy Raskalov, the Urban Explorer's Instagram last month shocked the South Korean society. Many were amazed by the cityscape but also were curious how the Russian photographer managed to sneak through tight security of the tower's construction site.
The Russian and his fellow photographer released a 7 minute-long footage of how the duo conquered the Lotte Tower bare-handed. The duo looked around the premise during the day, found a few possible discreet routes, and sneaked into the construction site during the night.
During the infiltration, the duo had sneaked past security guards and workers. After they have found out that there were hardly any security cameras around, the duo sped up and succeeded to the top of the tower at dawn.
In March, Lotte gathered up information about Raskalov coming to South Korea, Lotte officials tried very hard to keep the Russian away from its premises which are still under construction. The company even displayed posters to let its employees prohibit Raskalov from entering the construction site but obviously failed to do so.
Many were amazed by how Raskalov made to the top of the Lotte Tower without being caught by the security guards, but some worried the security officials of the tower because they may be subjected to severe questioning from the company for not being able to prevent the climber entering the construction site.
Climbing high towers and buildings are a part of "OnTheRoofs" project by the two photographers. The climbing photographer duo previously climbed Shanghai Tower, which is approximately 632 meters high in 2014, and also climbed other landmarks such as Pyramid of Cheops, Cologne Cathedral, and the Seven Sisters Buildings. The OnTheRoofs project has a strong fan-base since the duo's work is full of beautiful cityscapes filmed from far above.
