Sales of tickets for the 2018 winter Olympics in South Korea's eastern ski resort of Pyeongchang will begin in October, with their average prices set at 121 US dollars, organisers said Monday.
Advance tickets are available from October while offline sales will begin a month later. Foreigners can get tickets through an authorized ticket reseller (ATR) in their country.
A total of 1.17 million tickets will be issued with 90 percent, or 1.05 million tickets worth 174 billion won ($151 million), to be handled by the Pyeongchang Organizing Committee.
The committee aims to sell 30 percent of its tickets abroad. Prices range from 20,000 won to 900,000 won. The price of tickets to the opening ceremony will range from 220,000 won to 1.5 million won.
Tickets for popular figure skating, short track, and speed skating events will start from 150,000 won, with the most expensive ticket selling for 900,000 won.
Organisers predicted the 17-day Pyeongchang Games starting on February 9 will would attract two million visitors as well as 6,300 athletes and officials from more than 100 countries.
