"Road to Busan", a post-apocalyptic zombie film, has reached five million viewers on the fifth day of its release.

Data from the Korean Film Council showed the film recorded 1.19 million viewers in South Korea's box office solely on Sunday, bringing the number of its accumulated viewers to 5.31 million.

Train to Busan, which is a sequel to "Seoul Station", an animation directed by creator Yeon Sang-ho, depicts a story about a band of people striving for survival on a bullet train hit by a zombie outbreak.

Some experts had expressed worries about the horror film because previous home-made zombie films were largely unsuccessful, but Road to Busan's popularity is now soaring thanks to attention from moviegoers and horror story fans.
