A 41-year-old father and two children managed to save their lives, clinging to a rock together until firefighters swam across with ropes after they were swept down a swollen river.
The father identified by his surname Lee and his teenage son and daughter faced a risky situation while swimming in a river in Inje, some 129 kilometers (80 miles) northeast of Seoul, to beat a heat wave after heavy downpours, firefighters said.
As the raging currents carried them down, the three found a rock in the middle of the river and luckily, a villager passing by heard their desperate cries for help and called the rescuers, according to the Inje Fire Station. No injuries were reported with the father just showing minor scratches.
