SEOUL -- A hotline has been set up to provide legal and other support for the victims of sexual abuse in the arts and cultural community which has become the epicenter of South Korea's #MeToo movement.

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said Monday that it started operating a call center for anyone who works in the fields of arts, culture, contents, tourism and sports. A special team involving those from the ministry, a state human rights watchdog and private groups was formed to investigate sexual abuse cases.

A string of accusations has been made since the #MeToo movement began in January after a female prosecutor claimed that she was sexually harassed by another prosecutor in 2010. Jo Min-ki, a veteran actor who had served as a college professor, committed suicide after he was accused of sexually harassing his students.
