SEOUL -- South Korea's top mobile carrier, SK Telecom, showed its interest in ADT Caps controlled by an American fund as competition to buy the country's second-largest security services provider gains attention.
SK Telecom said in a regulatory filing that it is considering bidding for ADT Caps. "No decision has been made so far," it said in response to news reports that it formed a consortium with Australia's financial services provider Macquarie to submit a non-binding bid.
Market watchers predict the price will reach about three trillion won (2.8 billion US dollars). U.S. private equity fund Carlyle Group purchased ADT Caps for $1.93 billion in 2014. Contenders include a consortium led by Britain-based CVC Capital Partners.
