SEOUL -- LG Electronics seeks a turnaround in its troubled smartphone business by using South Korea's popular K-pop band BTS for its new flagship smartphone, G7, to be released in May.
LG said Tuesday in a statement that it has signed a one-year endorsement deal with BTS. The boy band will promote LG smartphones from the first half of 2018. G7 features LG's AI platform ThinQ and a camera that can identify objects and project related information on its display in real-time.
"We will build up a new brand image of LG smartphones with BTS, a group well-known for its diligence and world's top-class skills," LG said, adding it hopes to deliver a different image of its smartphones combined with the group's unique and vibrant colors.
