SEOUL -- LS Cable & System, a major cable manufacturer based in Seoul, has clinched a five-year contract to provide mid- and low-voltage cables for Western Power, an electricity supplier owned by the State Government of Western Australia.

The South Korean company said Tuesday it would send cables from its plant in Vietnam to Western Power by June 2023. Demand for power cables has been on the rise in Australia.

LS C&S, which has factories in China, Malaysia, Vietnam and India, signed a deal with Indonesia's AG Group last month to set up a power cable joint venture as part of efforts to complete a production network in Southeast Asia. The company produces power and telecom cables and systems, as well as integrated modules and other related industrial materials.
