SEOUL -- The operator of South Korea's top food delivery service Baedal Minjok partnered with a domestic tech company specializing in artificial intelligence-based retail systems, to develop a total solution that would bring innovation to small food-related firms in operation and customer management.

Woowa Brothers said Friday that through its partnership with VD Company, the company would introduce various future technologies for restaurants to provide new experiences and convenience to customers. "The ever-growing future technologies are already presenting a new paradigm to the restaurant industry around the world and make our daily lives more convenient as a result," a Woowa Brothers officials said.

Woowa Brothers has developed autonomous robots for restaurants and self-driving food delivery vehicles. It has partnered with Hyundai Movex, an automated logistics system provider, to develop autonomous delivery robots capable of moving between floors.

In December last year, Woowa Brothers secured $320 million in fresh foreign capital from Hillhouse Capital Group, an investment management firm, Sequoia Capital and the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC). Hillhouse Capital led a consortium of investors to inject some $50 million into Baedal Minjok in April 2016.
