SEOUL -- Red Velvet has topped the real-time U.S. iTunes albums chart with "The ReVe Festival Day 1", the band's sixth mini-album, for the first time as a K-pop girl band.

The five-member band released the new album including the title song "Zimzalabim" on Wednesday. It is currently the most popular album on iTunes, an online music service provided by Apple, in the U.S. and elsewhere.

The YouTube music video for "Zimzalabim" has garnered 7,847,332 views in less than 16 hours.

"I like how red velvet keeps on having new concept every comeback. Like they don't care and they just don't wanna be just like the neighborhood. Thumbs up for that my girls," said Jonas Vecino, a YouTube user. Another user Xeeniah Yvone Zachariades said: "Red Velvet is known for unique concept. They really try different things. I love them."

Red Velvet, which debuted in 2014, has released hit songs such as "Red Flavor", "Bad Boy", "RBB" and "Rookie". The band was applauded by North Korea's chairman Kim Jong-un when it performed at a concert in Pyongyang ahead of an inter-Korean summit in April last year
