SEOUL --BTS' agency Big Hit Entertainment revealed a glimpse of what the next BTS-themed game would be like through a teaser video uploaded onto YouTube.
A fictional world of chaos and violence was depicted in the YouTube video released on Wednesday. Animated characters of two BTS members, Jungkook and Jin, appear at the end, just before it finished with a narration in Korean: "Where is the map of the soul that would open the future?" The video was watched more than 2.6 million times in less than 24 hours.
The upcoming video game is a collaborative work between Big Hit and Netmarble, South Korea's largest game publisher. The two companies have worked together to develop and distribute the mobile game, BTS WORLD, which was released on June 26 this year.
BTS WORLD has attracted countless fans worldwide and received a rating average of 4.8 out of five stars on Google Play, an app store for Android smartphones. Some fans expressed excitement about BTS content such as songs and videos, released exclusively for the mobile game, and others praised the gameplay.
"AMAZING!!!! I love it and the fact that you feel like youre actually talking to them and things like that. It is also a great time killer," commented Kevin Gantt, a Google Play user. Another user Sara Rahman said: "I don't usually like card games but this is a brilliant game. it's an amazing app for all fellow armies. you really feel connected to the bts through this."
Big Hit CEO Bang Si-hyuk Bang said on Wednesday he would prepare a new game project with Netmarble, using BTS' storytelling IP.
