SEOUL -- Hyundai Motor has revealed a glimpse of its concept plug-in hybrid sport utility vehicle featuring the carmaker's latest design trend through teaser content including images and a rendered video clip.
The teaser content was released through its website on Wednesday. Hyundai said its sport utility vehicle (SUV) concept houses an "innovative, eco-focused compact SUV design with emotional function as an urban vision crossover concept."
The SUV concept, powered by a plug-in hybrid, was designed to express two derivative sub-themes, Parametric Fantasy and Transcendent Connectivity. The surface is seamlessly connected from the body to either light or trim features, Hyundai said, adding the concave and convex lines was intended to reflect ambient light to create an extreme sense of tension.
Hyundai also introduced a new front grille concept that stays closed when the car is stationary but moves in a prescribed sequence when the car is on the move. Hyundai explained the specially designed grille controls the flow of air to the powertrain to optimize aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.
