LAS VEGAS -- CES 2020, the world's largest technology exhibition, has declared the "age of artificial intelligence (AI) 2.0."

A technology competition triggered by the launch of Google's AlphaGo, an AI-based Go board game program, in 2016 opened the era of AI 1.0. Now, the age of AI 2.0, which focuses on AI user experience (AIX) and the relationship between humans and AI, has come on the occasion of CES 2020.

Reflecting the age of AI 2.0, this year's CES attracted not only IT companies but also companies that handle daily necessities. P&G, a household goods company, introduced an AI-powered toothbrush that finds out unclean areas.

Introducing the robot as a companion, not as a device, he said the 2020s will be the "Age of Experience," vowing to showcase AI technologies that are something more than voice recognition and object recognition to match the lifestyles of users.

Park Il-pyung, the chief technology officer of LG Electronics, defined the standards for the development of AI technology. "AI should be capable of hypothesizing and validating itself during its optimization stages based on carrying out designated tasks and operation." LG has suggested a new lifestyle involving AI under the theme of "Like my home anywhere."

Hyundai Motor Group executive vice chairman Chung Eui-sun introduced Urban Air Mobility (UAM), a human-centered future where all mobility service vehicles in the sky and the ground using AI find the most efficient way to users without drivers.

Toyota President Akio Toyota presented "Intelligence Amplified," an idea of amplifying AI during his keynote speech about the company's Smart City initiative. Toyota stressed that the smart city will amplify the usage of AI beyond the simple utilization of AI technology.

The technology that is driving an AI boom only handles certain situations but the age of universal AI that can be applied to all fields is coming, said IBM CEO Ginni Rometty.

On why AI can't help but be smart, Amazon Web Services CEO Andy Jassy said that in the next decade, AI will be able to analyze data collected from billions of things connected to the Internet and offer a new level of service.
