SEOUL -- Studio Dragon, a major drama production company in South Korea, and Skydance Media, an American production company, have jointly embarked on the production of the English remake of "Hotel Del Luna," a 2019 hit K-drama featuring singer-actress IU.

Studio Dragon said in a statement on Wednesday that Alison Schapker, an American television writer and producer well-known for her works such as Altered Carbon and espionage series "Alias," will produce the American remake of Hotel Del Luna. Skydance Media is  the creator of the popular Netflix science-fiction drama series "Altered Carbon."

Hotel Del Luna depicts a story about an ancient hotel for lost souls and its ghost employees. The cable TV drama garnered huge popularity in Asia through Netflix, the world's top over-the-top (OTT) video platform.

The American remake is the results of a strategic partnership involving CJ ENM, the entertainment wing of South Korean conglomerate CJ Group, Skydance Media and Studio Dragon, the drama production wing of CJ EN. CJ ENM and Studio Dragon joined hands with Netflix last year to create original video content targeting the global audience.
