SEOUL -- Samsung Electronics has released two new SD memory cards, also known as secure digital storage chips, targeting content creators such as one-man media, videographers and photographers who have a high demand for SD cards with fast data transfer speed and reliable durability.

The South Korean tech giant revealed PRO Plus and EVO Plus lineups of high-performance SD cards on October 14. The PRO lineup enables content creators to flawlessly record 4K ultra-high-definition (UHD) video and photographic images in continuous burst shots. Samsung said that its new EVO lineup is also capable of ensuring smooth playback and editing for large-sized files.

"For years, consumers around the world have trusted Samsung to deliver high-performance memory cards in a variety of capacities that meet their unique needs," Samsung's memory brand product business team vice president Mike Mang said in a statement uploaded onto the company's news blog. Mang stressed that the new SD cards are designed to withstand intensive usage and the most rugged conditions.

According to Samsung, the new SD cards are protected from water, temperature, X-rays, magnets, and shocks while having the drop-proof and wear-proof abilities to withstand up to five-meter drop as well as up to 10,000 swipes.

The global SD card market estimated at $10.6 billion in 2020 will reach $12.7 billion by 2027, according to Global Industry Analysts, a market research firm. The market is growing at an annual average growth rate of 2.7 percent, mainly thanks to those who create content in UHD or other formats with larger resolutions.
