SEOUL --Mist, fine dust and yellow dust shorten the visibility of video surveillance and reduce the recognition rate of cameras used for closed-circuit television by making it difficult to grasp the outline and color of objects. Hanwha Techwin, a surveillance and optoelectronics company in South Korea, has released CCTVs with fog removal technology and other functions.

When CCTV video is blurred due to fog and dust, Techwin's camera detects the situation on its own, corrects the blur and provides clear images. The company said in a statement on March 4 that its CCTV acquired international standards for dust prevention and waterproof and prevents malfunction by blocking foreign substances.

Various technologies were applied to overcome extreme environments such as withstanding cold and hot temperatures and functions to show clear images despite strong winds and earthquakes or to remove moisture with wipers and heaters.

Along with CCTV cameras that provide access to video feeds via physical networks, network cameras that allow operators to control and manage surveillance devices using wireless networks are popular at homes and facilities. In May 2020, Techwin released the world's first ultra-high-definition 8K network surveillance camera capable of capturing high-resolution images. Surveillance cameras with high-definition resolutions that are lower than 4K (3,840 x 2,160 pixels) are widely used.
