LAS VEGAS -- A home hub revealed by Samsung Electronics at CES 2022 helps users streamline chores and responsibilities on a shared device. It is a new way to manage home appliances with an innovative, tablet-style touchscreen device that provides instant access to customized and connected home services.

Samsung's home hub is an exclusive 8.4-inch tablet that can be operated from its dock or used on the go around the home. With two high-performance microphones and two speakers for voice control, the hub can pick up verbal commands spoken from the broader room. It will be available first in South Korea in March.

The home hub offers improved connectivity with a range of smart home appliances, and uses artificial intelligence and a smart home network system called "SmartThings" to understand users’ needs and automatically provide the right solutions, Samsung said, adding that users can manage their daily routine and handle chores on a single device.

"The connectivity of our devices and Samsung Home Hub's intuitive interface allow everyone in the home to get through their to-do list quickly," said Yang Hye-soon in charge of customer experience at Samsung's digital appliances business.

The home hub provides direct connectivity to other devices in the smart home system, such as lights and a door lock system. A broad array of customized, AI-based SmartThings services can be controlled from one dedicated device.
