SEOUL -- South Korea will reveal a blueprint that would help the government accelerate the adoption of robot process automation solutions specialized in processing simple and repetitive tasks such as punching in numbers into spreadsheets and sorting data by categories.
Robot process automation (RPA) solutions are regarded as a key component for digital transformation, a worldwide industrial trend that turns old-fashioned businesses based on paperwork and manual data sorting into a more convenient and digitalized one using automated solutions and unmanned systems.

RPA solutions are mainly used in offices to help human workers accelerate the speed of their work. In December 2021, South Korea's retail giant Shinsegae said that the company's RPA solution increased the accuracy and speed of its quality management process for Shinsegae's online shopping mall.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety would hold a conference on February 9 to invite some 500 personnel from about 200 government institutes, organizations and administrative bodies to promote the adoption of RPA solutions, increase work efficiency and reduce working time. The ministry will also provide consulting, education and training services for organizations that wish to adopt RPA solutions.

"Ultimately, we will try to provide better public services to citizens through the adoption of RPA solutions that will increase the accuracy and speed of work so that the government can deploy saved time and manpower to more important and high-value tasks," Lee Dong-ok, director of the ministry's innovative planning bureau, was quoted as saying.
