SEOUL -- Omnicell, an American provider of medication management and adherence tools for health systems and pharmacies, will distribute JVM's innovative automatic devices in Britain under a business agreement with Hanmi Pharm, a major drugmaker in South Korea. The deal comes on the heels of a rapid increase in remote and non-face-to-face drug delivery due to a COVID-19 pandemic.

JVM, a sister company of Hanmi, offers automated solutions for medication dispensing and packaging with devices such as an automatic tablet dispensing and packaging system and an automatic medication inspection system. Hanmi is in charge of JVM's overseas business. JVM has sold products in Europe through its branch in the Netherlands.

Financial and other terms were not given. Hanmi said the contract with Omnisell would allow JVM to establish a direct sales network in Britain. Omnicell manufactures automated systems for medication management in hospitals and other healthcare settings, and medication adherence packaging and patient engagement software used by retail pharmacies.

"The recent expansion of non-face-to-face telemedicine and online drug delivery will contribute to the sustainable growth of JVM and Hanmi," Son Min-a in charge of Hanmi's JVM global business, said in a statement on April 1. "Based on cooperation with Omnicell, we will make efforts to help Hanmi become a partner for European pharmacists beyond Britain."

The pandemic has boosted demand for automated devices that can ease the burden of pharmacists' preparation and drug inspection, Hanmi said, adding it will be able to provide British pharmacists with a wide range of options for automatic dispensing devices.
