As a state project to achieve net-zero carbon dioxide emissions by 2050, Seoul will replace 10 percent of diesel vehicles with EVs by 2026. About 45,000 EVs were registered in Seoul. The number of chargers in Seoul will increase from more than 20,000 to 35,000 at the end of 2022.
By the end of June 2022, Seoul said that 12,000 chargers would be installed anew in residential areas where the installation of chargers is not easy topographically. The flowerbed of an apartment complex in northern Seoul will be renovated into a parking lot with chargers that will be used by residents and courier vehicles as well. Apartment residents will be allowed to use chargers set at commercial buildings or public parking lots.
