SEOUL -- Stage outfits worn by BTS members were dismantled into pieces and upcycled to produce three different bags using undyed industrial materials. All products were made special by marking the number 1 which means only one piece of clothing.

The production of BTS bags is the result of joint work by Kolon FnC, a fashion and lifestyle wing of South Korea's Kolon Group, and Hybe Insight, a culture space run by the agency of BTS, where people can share the power of music through communication.

Sales will start both offline and online on September 28. "We tried to deliver sustainable values and messages through the influence of BTS," said Lee Do-eun, a brand manager at RE;CODE, an upcycling-based fashion brand of Kolon FnC. BTS members wearing suits made with recycled fabric produced by Kolon FnC gave a public speech at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2021.

Upcycling, also known as creative reuse, is the process of transforming by-products, waste materials, or useless products into new materials or products perceived to be of greater quality, such as artistic value or environmental value. Designers have used industrial textile waste and existing clothing as the base material for creating new fashions.
