SEOUL -- South Korea's top beauty product maker Amorepacific partnered with Asleep, a domestic health startup specializing in artificial intelligence-based analysis solutions for breathing while asleep, to verify the performance of skincare products capable of helping users sleep properly.

Using Asleep's personalized sleep diagnosis technology, Amorepacific hopes to secure scientific evidence for beauty products that enable good sleeping if they put them on before going to bed. The goal is to develop products optimized for each user depending on their sleeping cycles and respiratory rate.

Asleep has disclosed a WiFi-based square-shaped device that measures the respiratory rate and how much a user tosses and turns in bed. The WiFi signal fluctuates when a person breathes and detects changes in breathing. Putting smartphones within a meter (39 inches) of their bed, users can get results through an app.

"We will further strengthen research on sleeping beauty products and develop innovative products in many different fields such as health foods and cosmetics," Amorepacific's research and innovation center head Park Young-ho said in a statement on October 21.

One of Amorepacific's main sleep beauty products is Lip Sleeping Mask. American actress Sydney Sweeney praised the product, saying it is her essential beauty product that makes her lips healthy while sleeping.
