SEOUL -- Boy band Stray Kids became the first K-pop group to interact with global fans in France through Lollapalooza, a popular global music event, as its headliner. The eight-member band will take part in the global music festival along with American rapper Kendrick Lamar and Rosalia, a famous singer and songwriter from Spain.

According to JYP Entertainment, the band's agency, Stray Kids will perform at Lollapalooza Paris on July 21. The headliner role is usually given to the most notable or prominent artists. Among many performers, headliners mostly appear on the stage at the end and perform for the longest time. This year, the Lollapalooza event will take place at Hippodrome ParisLongchamp, a horse-racing facility with a total capacity of 65,000 people, between July 21 and 23.

Lollapalooza is an annual global festival that was held in various countries including the United States, Chile, and Brazil. BTS member J-Hope headlined Lollapalooza 2022 which was held in Chicago, along with Metallica, an American heavy metal band, and rapper J. Cole.

Stray Kids received enormous attention from global K-pop fans before its official debut as the group members were the final survivors of "Stray Kids," a survival audition show aired through TV music channel Mnet in 2017. It is the first boy band to be produced by Park Jin-young, the head of JYP, four years after GOT7, a seven-member dance group that debuted in 2014. In 2022, the group's album, titled "Maxident," became one of the best-selling K-pop albums, exceeding 3 million copies.

The group is holding a concert in Bangkok on February 2 and 3 to continue its world tour that kicked off in November 2022 in Jakarta. The band's Japanese-based album called "The Sound" will be released on February 22.
