SEOUL -- Targeting Korean Wave fans all over the world, a tourism organization under South Korea’s culture ministry has released content that contains various information about K-content including K-pop, dramas, entertainment shows, and films. A total of 51 tour courses were selected such as the hit drama Hometown Cha Cha Cha and content related to Meokbang, an audiovisual show involving one or more hosts eating food while interacting with fans.

The Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) said in a statement on February 21 that the recommendation content showcasing some 200 tourist spots was released on its website. The content was created under six different themes -- K-pop, Hallyu (Korean cultural wave) stars, dramas, entertainment shows, and K-content. Viewers can also check filming locations for famous music videos and BTS-related information.

Among 51 tour courses, 14 of them were selected to roll out a guidebook called "Hallyu Wiki." The guidebook scheduled to be published in mid-March will be available in multiple languages such as English, Japanese and Chinese.

Exports of South Korean K-pop albums in 2022 reached $233 million, up 5.6 percent on-year. The most popular album was Proof, a BTS album which was sold more than 3 million copies. The usage of K-pop-related keywords on Twitter significantly increased to more than 6 billion in 2020 from about 5.09 million in 2010. In terms of the usage of K-pop-related keywords on the social media platform, Indonesia ranked first, followed by Thailand.
