SEOUL -- BTS member J-Hope will release his solo single before starting his mandatory military service in South Korea. The 29-year-old composed the song titled "on the street" which is a place where he first started to dream of becoming an artist.

"The title 'on the street' refers to j-hope's roots—street dance—from which his dream to become an artist began, and the path the artist and fans will continue to walk together," said Big Hit through Weverse, a fan community platform after announcing the single will be rolled out on March 3. The song is a lo-fi hip-hop featuring cozy melodies.

J-Hope is the seven-member band's main dancer who is also known for his talented rapping skills. He is the first BTS member to release his first solo album while the group is taking a hiatus. The music video for "More," the title track of his very first album "Jack In The Box" has gained more than 65 million views on YouTube seven months after its release on July 2022.

J-Hope would become the second BTS member to fulfill his compulsory military service. In South Korea, all males aged 18 to 28 must do their mandatory military service for more than 18 months unless they have physical or mental problems. Jin, who started his service in December 2022, has recently completed his basic training at a frontline Army boot camp.
