Boy band ASTRO member Moonbin passes away

SEOUL -- Moonbin, a 25-year-old member of popular K-pop band ASTRO, has passed away, the band's agency said through a social media post. The cause of death was not disclosed but the agency and the late singer's family members urged media and fans not to make wild speculations about the singer's death.

Moon, who was the main dancer of the five-member band, began his career in the entertainment sector by becoming a child fashion model during his pre-school days. He debuted as an ASTRO member in 2016 and also performed as a duo unit with his band member Sanha in 2020.

"On April 19, ASTRO member Moonbin unexpectedly left us and became a star in the sky," the band's agency FANTAGIO said in an Instagram post on April 20. "It hurts to deliver this sudden news to our fans who showed unsparing love toward Moonbin. It is even more sorrowful as we know how Moonbin had thought of fans and how he had loved them." Fantagio said.

According to the agency, the funeral of Moonbin will be carried out by only close family members and colleagues, due to the requests of the bereaved family members.
