Boy band Seventeen completes three-month tour in Japan

SEOUL -- Multinational K-pop boy band Seventeen has completed its Japan tour that started in September. The group attracted about 515,000 fans through 12 concerts at in five cities, including Tokyo, Osaka, and Fukuoka.

The 13-member band debuted in May 2015 and won the "World Performer Award" at the 2016 Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), an annual music festival in Hong Kong. Seventeen consists of three subgroups -- hip-hop, vocal, and performance. The group made its debut in Japan in May 2018 with its Japanese language album titled "We Make You."

Seventeen wrapped up its Japan tour at a domed stadium in Fukuoka on December 17, the band's agency said. About 80,000 people attended the two-day concert in Fukuoka. Group members showcased its hit songs such as "Super," the title track of its 10th mini album "FML." The music video of the dance song has gained more than 162 million views on YouTube after its release in April 2023. 

In September 2023, about 100,000 fans attended Seventeen's concert at Tokyo Dome, an indoor stadium regarded as the "dream stage" among Japanese artists. Seungkwan, who had been on hiatus since August of this year, also appeared in the Tokyo concert. Group members will continue their world tour in Bangkok in December of this year, as well as Bulacan and Macau in January 2024.
